So you've made a Roblox game? Today we will show you how to publish your game on Roblox and modify the settings to make it public. In this manner, all your friends, and the whole Roblox community, can join you when you play your new game. Discover How to Save and Publish Your Game on Roblox
So you’ve created an amazing game on Roblox Studio, and now you want others to play it? With just a few clicks, you can make your game accessible to the entire community of Roblox players, including your friends and family.
1. Save and Publish To Roblox
You may have already been saving your Roblox Studio project to your computer hard drive, but you can also save and publish it right to the Roblox servers. In the File menu, select the Save to Roblox option. Then, once it is saved, you can select the File menu again, and then click on Publish to Roblox. This puts your game into “play” mode on Roblox.
2. Add Screenshots and Videos
You can make your Roblox Game more attractive to potential players by uploading custom screen captures of your gameplay to the game settings. First, use the Roblox Studio Screen Shot button (on the View tab) or Video Record button to take a few nice images or videos of your game.
Next, Go to Game Settings on the Home tab (this is the same window that popped up when you selected Save to Roblox).
Finally, scroll down to locate the Screenshots and Videos area, click on the plus and add your images and videos. At this point you can also choose what devices are allowed to play your game, and what type of category your game belongs to when searched.
3. Find Your Game on Roblox
There are two methods to directly find your game on Roblox instead of searching for it, since newly published games can take time to show up in search results.
Option 1: Check your Profile page to see if your creation shows up there. This method will work for games marked Public so your Private games will not show up here.
Option 2: Close your game on Roblox Studio and on the My Games menu, select the three small dots in the top right corner of the game you want to locate on Roblox. Choose Open Place Page, and your game will be brought up on Roblox in your browser.
How to Play Your Roblox Game With Others
Now that your game is located on the Roblox servers and all your latest changes have been published, it is time to let people play with you! There are just a few steps that will make your game playable by others, whether you just want it to be your friends, or anyone in the world.
1. Make Your Game Public or “Friends Only” in Studio
Return to Roblox Studio and open your place (game). Click on Game Settings on the Home tab, and then on the left side of the popup window, select Permissions. The first choice on this page is whether you want your game to remain Private, or if you want to make it accessible to Friends or go all in and make it Public. Once you make your selection, be sure to hit Save!
2. Change the Settings on the Creator Dashboard in Roblox
Roblox has now incorporated a user-friendly creator dashboard that lists all of your creations in your browser. You can find it here. When you select your new game from this website, you will be taken to an Overview page, where you can select Basic Settings from the menu on the left side of the screen. Here, you can select to make your game Public.
To limit your game to Friends Only, you will need to navigate to your game in Roblox, click on the three dots in the upper right corner next to the name of the game, and select Configure this Place. On the place page that appears, select Access from the left menu, and change the settings from Everyone to Friends.
How to Edit your Roblox Game with Friends
If you would like to allow your Roblox friends to join you in real time in Roblox Studio to help design your games, you will need to allow them Editing access, which is done within the Game Settings.
You can either open an existing place (game) or create a new one from the Roblox Studio main menu. Simply click on the existing place and it will open, or click on the New + button on the left and choose a template to begin.
2. Open the Game Settings
On the Home Tab, return to the Game Settings popup menu. Then select Permissions.
3. Search for Your Friends and Allow Edit Access
Scroll down and find the Search By Username box. Type your friend’s name in the box and click on them when they pop up on the list. Be sure to change their access from View to Edit so they can code and design along with you!
Now that your friends are invited, they can find your games under their My Games - Share with Me area on the Roblox Studio start page!
