A-20 THE AGIS Wednesday, April 11, 1990 Carroll I. Frederick Carroll Ignatius Frederick, 86, of Benson, died April 1 at the Bel Forest Nursing Center. A former mail dispatcher, he was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Fallston. Mr.

Frederick, born in Baltimore, was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Waldron Frederick. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ward Frederick; one sister, Margaret Frederick, and many 1 nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial was offered April 3 by the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan at St.

Mark's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Church cemetery in Hydes. The pallbearers were Robert, Joseph, William and Pat Frederick, and Bud Gall and Dick Lynch. Amy Annette Sherman Amy Annette Sherman, a volunteer for church and charitable orgaE nizations, died April 4 at Fallston General Hospital.

Mrs. Sherman, 62, in Fallston. A member of Fallston United Methodist Church, she served as a church youth counselor. In addition, she was past vice president and secretary for the Harford County Cystic Fibrosis Chapter and worked at the Harford Center. Mrs.

Sherman was born in Latrobe, the daughter of the late James and Marion Neale McCallister. She is survived by her husband, Alphus H. "Jack" Sherman; four children, Amy J. Heitmuller of Delta, Lois L. Altimus of Summerville, S.C., Michael W.

Sherman Sr. of Whiteford and Matthew W. Sherman of Fallston; a brother, James McCallister of Perry Hall; a sister, Mary 0. Reichard of Mesa, and seven grandchildren. A memorial service was held April 7 at the Fallston United Methodist Church.

Ryan, an Aberdeen resident for more than 20 years, died April 4 in an automobile accident on Ebenezer Road in the Chase area. She was 43. A claims receptionist for the GEICO Insurance Company for more than 17 years, Mrs. Ryan worked in the Towson office as a claims representative. She was very interested in genealogy and was editor of the Ely Heritage, a quarterly magazine for descendants of the founder of the copper mining town of Ely, Nev.

The publication is distributed throughout the United States and overseas. A graduate of Overlea High School, she attended the University of Baltimore. After college, Mrs. Ryan was a substitute teacher and worked for Hutzler's department stores before joining GEICO. She was a member of St.

Patrick Church in Havre de Grace. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Charles Brengle of Chase and the late Frances Brengle. She moved to Harford County when she married her husband, John D. Ryan, a lifelong resident of the county who is plant superintendent at the Pimlico Race Course. In addition to her father and husband, Mrs.

Ryan is survived by a brother, Charles Brengle III of Bel Air; and two sisters, Betty Poole of Jarrettsville and Margaret Brengle of Chase. Services were held April 7 at the Connelly Funeral Home in Essex with the Right Rev. William T. McCrory officiating. Burial was in Holly Hill Cemetery.

OBITUARIES Winifred H. Johnson Winifred Hawkins Johnson, 87, of Bel Air, died on April 5 at University of Maryland Hospital. She was the wife of the late Melvin P. Johnson. Born at Meadowvale" Thomas Run, she was the daughter of the late Charles Stanton Hawkins and Georgia Welty Forwood.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Bel Air United Methodist Church for over 70 years, a charter member of the Maryland Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Governor William Paca chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by one son, Melvin Carl Johnson of Bel Air; one daughter, Blevins of Pylesville; one granddaughter, Lynne J. Wilkie of Ellicott City; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and one sister, Dorothy Starr of Fallston. She was the grandmother of the late Christopher Carl Johnson.

Services were held on April 9 at Bel Air United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles W. Lightner officiating and assisted by the Rev. John R. Lebo.

Mrs. Hizer, of Aberdeen, was 79. She formerly worked as a medical secretary. Mrs. Hizer's husband, Robert C.

Hizer, died in 1983. She was the daughter of the late Bartlett and Ida M. Shane Ford. Mrs. Hizer is survived by a son, Robert A.

Hizer of Havre de Grace; two brothers, Donald S. Ford of Preston and Wilson Ford of Churchville; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held April 5 at Spesutia Cemetery. The Rev. Paul L.

Grant presided. Arrangements were directed by the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home. Carl William Martin Carl William Martin, 55, died April 6 at his home in Forest Hill. Mr. Martin, an Army veteran, retired as operator of the water treatment plant at Aberdeen Proving Ground in November of last year.

He was a member of the Bel Air Moose Lodge. A native of Forest Hill, he was the son of Mary Long Martin of Street and the late Liburn L. Martin. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Testerman Martin; two daughters, Donna M. Trout of Jarrettsville, and Tina L.

Heuer was the wife of the late George L. Heuer. She was born in Red Ash, Ky. the daughter of the late Lincoln E. and Mary Dena Baute Stalcup.

Walker Katherine E. Walker, 77, of Fallston, died April 9 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. A homemaker, Mrs. Walker was a member of the Jarrettsville Homemakers. She formerly belonged to the Mountain Christian and Grandview Christian churches.

Prior to moving to Harford County about ten years ago, she lived in Baltimore County. She was the wife of Henry E. Walker, a Harford County native, who died in 1969. Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Emma Heller Gormer.

Mrs. Walker is survived by a daughter, Kathy E. Smith of Fallston; two brothers, Samuel and Robert Gormer, both of Cumberland, and two grandchildren. Services were scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at the William E.

Johnson Funeral Home on Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson. Burial will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

Etta Huff Foard Etta Huff "Grandma" Foard, 99, a native and resident of Street and former elementary school teacher, died April 7 at the Long View Nursing Home in Manchester. Prior to her marriage to the late Samuel B. Foard Sr. in 1916, Mrs.

Foard taught school in Bethlehem, an area near Jarrettsville, Fountain Green and Chestnut Hill, 1 near Forest Hill. A long-time member of the Emory United Methodist Church in Street, she was active with the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday School for many years. Affectionately known as "Grandma," she was the daughter of the late Hezekiah and Ella Webb Huff. Mrs.

Foard is survived by two sons, Dr. Wilbur H. Foard of Manchester, Samuel B. Foard Jr. of Street; a daughter, Virginia F.

Massey of Street; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Emory United Methodist Church. The Rev. Glen W.

Mrs. Osborne was the wife of the late W. Kelly Osborne and the daughter of the late Haywood and Rosie Farmer Bennett. She is survived by a daughter, Rosie Amrein of Citizens Nursing Home in Havre de Grace; a sister, Betty Irwin of Abingdon; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Born in O'Neill, Mrs. Reising was a graduate of Wayne State Teachers College and was a kindergarten teacher in the Gary, public school system for 35 years. After her retirement and the death of her husband, Otto Reising, she moved to Bel Air where she lived until 1988. Mrs. Reising is survived by three daughters, Ellen Morrison of Los Altos, Fran Bartell of Bel Air, Madge Reising of Baltimore; three sons, Paul Reising of Moraga, Tom Reising of Oak Forest, Greg Reising of Gary, a sister, Loretto Laue of Portage, two brothers, John Phalin of Van Nuys, Cal.

Poist Wilbur B. Poist, the ager of the maintenance department at Harford Memorial Hospital, died unexpectedly April 5 at his home in Havre de Grace. He was 69. A native of Cecil County, Mr. Poist was the son of the late Charles Shure and Jessie Jackson Poist.

He and his wife were divorced. Mr. Poist is survived by two sons, Charles Poist of North Carolina and Kenneth Poist of Havre de Grace; a daughter, Rosemary Kell of Timonium; three sisters, Nellie Crozier of New Castle, Eva Ledman of Havre de Grace, Marguerite Samis of Delaware; three brothers, Donald Poist of Havre de Grace, Curtis Poist of Port Deposit and Austin Poist of Delaware, and three grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 9 at St. Patrick Church by the Right Rev.

Arrangements were directed by the Mitchell-Smith Funeral Home. Thomas Patrick Lavery Thomas Patrick Lavery, a retired machinist for the Army, died April 6 at his home in Perryville. He was 75. He was a member of the American Legion, Susquehanna Post 135. Mr.

Lavery, the son of the late Thomas and Frances Murin Lavery, was born in Oswego, N.Y. His survivors include his wife, Phyllis J. Lavery; two sons, Thomas V. Lavery of Lake Clear, N.Y., and Patrick R. Lavery of Elkton; a sister, Sr.

Mary Martha Lavery of St. Joseph's Convent in Rutland, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services were held April 9 at the Patterson Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond L. Forester presiding.

Burial was private. Maye Townsend Nelson Maye Townsend Nelson, 75, of Abingdon, died April 3 at Franklin Square Hospital Center. Mrs. Nelson, the wife of the late Howard W. Nelson was born in South Boston, Va.

Her parents were the late Charles A. and Ednes Moon Townsend. She is survived by a son, Howard W. Nelson Jr. of Middle River; a daughter, Joanne N.

Nelson III, Mrs. Nelson's grandsons. Irene Gates Morris, 92, of Aberdeen, a lifelong resident of Harford County, died April 7 at Calvert Manor Nursing Home in Rising Sun. A homemaker, she was the wife of the late Walter A. Morris, who died Jan.

29. She and her husband had celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in January. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women. She was born in Dublin, the daughter of the late Levi and Eliza Cullum Gates.

She is survived by two daughters, Clarissa E. Fox and Thelma K. Gosweiler, both of Aberdeen; two grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Services will take place today (Wednesday), 11 a.m., at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffrey Welsh and the Rev.

Born in Falling Rock, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Wessie Wiley Perdue. Mrs. Petry is survived by her husband, Frank Petry a son, Robert J. Petry of Tucson, a brother, Garland Perdue of Winifrede, W.Va., and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

John Andrew Lochary John Andrew Lochary, 49, of Lutherville, an engineering supervisor for the Telephone Company, died after an apparent heart attack March 31 at Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

A employee for 28 years, he was a Baltimore native and a 1958 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School. He served in the Navy in the early 1960s. Mr. Lochary coached and officiated in youth football and baseball programs for the Loch Raven Recreation Council.

He also enjoyed boating in the bay area of Ocean City. He was the son of John and Frances Lochary of Timonium. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Judith M. Blair Lochary; a son, Stephen A. Lochary of Ocean City; a daughter, Laurie M.

Lochary of Lutherville; a sister, Ann Gallagher of Glencoe; two brothers, Lance Lochary of Westminster, and Ben Lochary of Charlotte, N.C. Edna Florence Groves Edna Florence Groves, 83, of Abingdon, died April 5 at Sinai Hospital. Mrs. Groves, a member of the Wilna Seventh Day Adventists, was born in Baltimore. She was the wife of the late Charles M. Groves.

She is survived by three nieces and a nephew. Services were held April 9 at the Howard K. McComas III Funeral Home, P.A. Pastor Richard Fearing officiated. Interment was in Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Bill Brooks, Mike Allen and Francis Sparr. Retta Virginia Seaman Retta Virginia Seaman, 98, of Middetown, Del. formerly of Perryman, died April 8 at the Kent Convalescent Center in Smyrna, Del. The wife of the late Homer S. Seaman, she was born in Claysville, Del.

Her parents were the late Joshua and Flora Crow Miller. Mrs. Seaman is survived by two sons, Charles H. Seaman of Aberdeen and Edward H. Seaman of Middletown, two grandchildren; nine -grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
