As students, we inevitably encounter negative thoughts. Therefore, it is crucial for us to cultivate effective thinking skills that go beyond mere positivity. Effective thinking entails the ability to objectively analyse situations, free from the influence of emotions. This empowers us to address negative thoughts, engage in self-evaluation, and respond to failure in a different manner. Check out my blog where I discuss 4 strategies that can help students cultivate effective thinking skills- something i can certainly benefit from when returning from placement for my final year 😅 .

Embracing the 7E instructional model can revolutionize the way we teach and learn. It's a cycle that starts with eliciting student understanding and flows through engagement and exploration. This model isn't just about imparting knowledge; it's about igniting a continuous journey of discovery and connection to the world around us.📖 Elicit: Diagnose your students' prior knowledge and beliefs about a topic through discussion or assessment.🧑🤝🧑 Engage: Capture the students' interest through a problem, situation, or phenomenon that challenges their current understanding.🔎 Explore: Provide students with a hands-on activity to investigate the concept without direct instruction, encouraging curiosity and questions.✍🏼 Explain: Guide students to articulate their understanding, supported by evidence from their exploration, and provide direct teaching to clarify concepts.💬 Elaborate: Extend students' understanding by applying concepts to new situations, deepening their knowledge through further activities and challenges.✅ Evaluate: Assess students' understanding and skills, both formally and informally, to inform the next steps in instruction.🪜Extend: Encourage students to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom, making connections to real-world contexts and prior learning. Are you ready to #MetasageUp your teaching with the 7E model?Follow us for more content like this! Very intriguing... the WHY #ofteachingandlearning .. An eternal #question in every educator's thoughts ..how to engage #students, how to #makelearninglast ,how to create an #impact, how to make exploration a part and parcel of students #lifelonglearning process.....To me the WHY must always be followed by a HOW ... Every teacher is trained to begin the lesson with a question, a #fascinatingstory, or a surprising fact that engages students and piques their interest... that's the HOW .WHENEVER a teacher #challenges students to solve a problem or figure out a mystery that requires them to #thinkcritically and creatively... that's the HOW .WHENEVER a teacher #empowers #studentsagency ...the voice, choice and the ownership ..that's the HOW.WHENEVER a teacher lets students #create, #experiment, and #build, so they can #experience #realworld applications of what they're learning, that's the HOW.And last but not the least WHENEVER a teacher #integratestechnology relevantly, making learning more interactive and innovative ...that's the HOW.WHENEVER we #fosterinquiry we must #recognize and #celebrate student progress and achievement to deepen a love for #learning.

"Repeating is good for revision, but repeating with no understanding is forgotten easily." This quote from TARA highlights the importance of understanding over rote memorization. What does this mean for you?*Active learning: Go beyond just repeating. Ask questions, connect concepts, and actively engage with the material.*Deeper understanding: True learning involves comprehension, not just surface-level recall.TARA encourages you to:*Learn with purpose: Understand the "why" behind what you're learning.*Make it stick: Meaningful learning leads to knowledge you can retain. How do you ensure you're truly learning, not just repeating? Start the lesson with a "Why?"As Simon Sinek thoroughly explored the art of inspiring people to take action, it all starts with the fundamental question- "Why?". Do you make it a habit to commence each lesson by addressing "Why" they are learning the content? Sharing and discussing the learning outcomes or objectives often prompts children to contemplate the reasons behind their learning, the significance of the topic, and how it relates to real-life applications.I personally emphasize the learning outcome of every lesson by presenting it prominently on the board and engaging in discussions about its relevance and practical applications. I've noticed that starting with "Why" stimulates children's creativity, curiosity, and transforms them into eager inquirers. Encourage children to ask questions such as why, how, why not, what if, etc. Display these questions prominently in the classroom at eye level or in a highly visible location.Displaying question words prominently in the classroom serves as a constant reminder to children to ask questions. They must not merely passively receive information. If our aim is to nurture innovative, skilful learners with a growth mindset, then we must initiate everything with a "WHY."I'm eager to know how you foster a spirit of inquiry in your students. Let me know your thoughts and ideas.#inquiry #simonsinek

I love instructing. I learned very quickly that just because you can demonstrate something or tell someone how to do something, it doesn't mean you can teach it. Instructing is a challenging skill that requires curiosity and problem solving. Being an instructor isn't about ego or experience—it's always about the student. This holds true across all teaching domains. Sometimes instructors can lose perspective and begin to judge instead of instruct. Poor performance should ignite curiosity, not criticism. Every struggle should be viewed as a puzzle waiting to be solved, with the instructor taking on the role of problem solver.Everyone learns differently, and exceptional instructors continuously analyze and adapt their approaches to meet students' needs. When a student struggles, part of an instructor's analysis should include self-reflection. What could I have explained better? How can I adjust my approach?Curiosity is critical for any instructor. Without it, and without the drive to solve problems, the root causes of students' challenges may remain elusive, leading to frustration for both instructor and student alike.Instructors hold the key to unlocking their students' potential. By fostering curiosity and embracing the role of problem solver, we not only empower our students to succeed but also enrich our own teaching journeys. So, the next time you encounter a challenge in the classroom, on the field, or in the co*ckpit, ask yourself: How can I approach this differently? Your new angle may be exactly what the student needs to move past the struggle and accelerate their learning journey.#StudentCenteredTeaching #Curiosity #ProblemSolving

Marty Lobdell's Study Less, Study Smart: Revisited & Applied to Everyday Lifehttps://lnkd.in/ghpTxUZaThis video by Marty Lobdell isn't just about studying – it's about learning and retaining information efficiently. I find myself revisiting it every year, and here's why it's valuable not just for students, but for anyone who wants to optimize their learning process. The key takeaway? Break down information into manageable chunks and space them out. Our brains are wired to absorb information better in short bursts rather than long cramming sessions. Apply this to:Mastering a new skill: Break down the skill into smaller steps and practice each step for a focused period.Tackling a complex project: Divide the project into milestones and celebrate each accomplishment.Learning a new language: Focus on learning a few new words or phrases each day instead of trying to cram a whole vocabulary list.By incorporating these techniques, you can improve your learning efficiency and reduce mental fatigue, allowing you to retain information more effectively in whatever field you're tackling.#lifelonglearning #productivityhacks #learningtips
