We are lucky enough to live somewhere surrounded by the sea, meaning that not only do we have access to an abundance of fresh, sustainable fish and shellfish, we also have plenty of chefs who know how they need to be cooked.

From beachside bistros to city hotspots, there are many seafood restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland; we have rounded up some of the best, including those with a Michelin Star.

Max's, Kinsale

On the main street of this foodie town you’ll find this pretty, welcoming restaurant; it’s been here over 20 years and is well-known by the locals for its winning fish dishes.

Aherne's, Youghal

This traditional restaurant has been in the family for three generations and fresh local seafood is at the heart of all they do, with fish straight from the day’s catch at Youghal harbour.

Harbourmaster, Aberaeron

The Harbourmaster showcases fish and shellfish from Cardigan Bay, alongside Welsh beef and lamb and Ceredigion cheeses; enjoy a pre-prandial drink on the terrace with its harbour views.

Set in a lovingly restored warehouse with views over the harbour, Sardine Factory utilises the daily stocks offered at Looe Market, which sits right opposite the restaurant.

Seahorse, Dartmouth

Mitch Tonks’ charming showpiece restaurant, on the banks of the River Dart, champions sustainable local seafood, much of it cooked over an open charcoal fire.

A laid-back, bijou bistro just off Margate’s famous esplanade, Angela’s takes great pride in serving local, sustainable fish & shellfish. Enjoy views out over the Kent coastline.

Little Fish Market, Brighton and Hove

It’s fittingly located in a converted fishmonger’s and fish is the focus of the set tasting menu. Chef-owner Duncan is full of enthusiasm and his skilled cooking has harmonious flavours.

Angler, Finsbury

One Michelin Star

Angler boasts views of some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks. The regularly changing menu is led by fresh catches sourced largely from Scotland and Cornwall.

Scott's, Mayfair

A Mayfair institution with a long, proud history and a terrific clubby atmosphere; the seafood is of prime quality and there’s plenty of choice for everyone. Oysters are a speciality.
